Remington Model 14C
I have a model 14 C serial 11XXX I've taken in for consignment. I'm sure everything on this rifle is original but I do have a question about the rear sight. The gun I have has a fold up peep sight. Did Remington offer this on the model 14? I've nailed down the manufacture date to 1913.
Re: Remington Model 14C
In 1914 Remington offered tang sights in Mable's and Lyman. They also had a wheel elevator with a cobination peep and straight bar hinged leaf rear sight. When you say you have a 14-C do you mean a "C" grade or a rifle that has a "C" by the serial number? If it doen't have checkering and graded wood, you have an "A" grade.

The C is above the serial number so I guess I have an model 14A

Prior to 1921 the model 14 did not carry a model number. The receiver was marked with a C above the serial number on the bottom of the receiver. This C denoted the model of the gun not the grade. Shot1too is right on about the peep sights. Model 14 specific sights by Lyman and Marbels were offered as "factory Options".
