Remington Model 14 ? or not

Post by Rich1490 »

I was given this rifle by my grandfather and need to sell it. But I need some help.
I have looked everywhere online for info on this rifle and found you guys.
This rifle looks like the pictures you have of other Rem25 Model 14's except,
it does not have a Model number stamped anywhere on it.
The serial number is: C 14965. Here is all the stampings I can find:

Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Co,
Remington Works, ilion new york USA
Pedersen's patents OCT 12, 1909 and JULY 5, 1910

Remington
Trademark
25 REM

In front of the trigger guard is stamped:

C
14965

On the left side there is a brass round insert:

UMC
U
25rem

Behind the trigger guard it is stamped

Remington
UMC
Trademark

This is also stamped on the metal butt plate as well.

Can anyone tell me what model this is and what a price should be for it?
Thank you.

You have a Model 14. There are too many variables that effect the value to provide you with a price. Such things as condition, type of sights, carbine or rifle, what the grade is, and any modifications all need to be taken into consideration. You can look at the Blue Book Of Gun Values and watch on line auctions to see what a like gun is bringing on the market. The 25 Rem caliber is desirable.
