model 8 (35 rem) rec'r

Post by jiminthecorner »

Hi, This newbie is curious as to why there are no visible markings on the left side of the receiver, Have they been "buffed" out? Were some made this way? Ser# is 4488x. Thanks for any info, JITC :?

Rec'r markings

I think only the later Model 8s had the receiver markings on the left side of the receiver. My 1918 made gun has no receiver markings, my 1933 does have left side receiver markings.

Walt ,Many thanks for the reply, although the bore is a bit dark, this rifle shoots incredibly well! Factory ammo is in <1" category @ 75 yds!! I don't know if I'm lucky or this is usual for an old model 8. Anyway its NOT for sale!! JITC :D :D
