Remington Hepburn Number 3 Help

Post by ODG »

I've searched the forum a bit to find some information regarding this rifle but figured this would be the best, and quickest, place to find any information about it.

We recently aquired a Hepburn Number 3 chambered in .25-20. Serial number is 988* and the only thing Remington could tell us is it was made between 1904 and 1908. The barrel length is 29" and has an octogon barrel, overall length is around 46". The rifle has spent the past 20 years of its life or so in a guys attic so most of the case hardening color is gone, but for what its been through is in still fairly good condition. All the serial numbers match and the stock has no deep gouges, but some old scuffs from being used.

I'll be adding some pictures soon to help.

Would anyone know the general history of these rifles, or maybe the specific history of this one? I'm not sure if anyone kept specific records and tracked each rifle by the serial number. Also, does anyone have a rough idea what the rifle would be worth? I know it's hard to judge at the moment with no pics.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.
