Model 25 pump action take-down rifle, 25-20 cal
I have Model 25 pump action take-down rifle, 25-20 cal. I'm trying to learn more on this rifle. I've been to the serial number page at RHS. Its stamp is DU 2. I believe D= Sept. U, there are multiple years (U's)... not sure how to use this table. Then the 2, I believe is assembly. What does assembly mean? I appreciate this boards help. Mist

DU2 indicates a "part order barrel" that was sold in September, 1927. So that means that the rifle has been rebarreled outside the factory. If you give me the serial, I could probably come close to when the rifle itself was built as I maintain a database on model 25s. Production of model 25s began in December, 1922 and ended essentially in 1936, with 56 made in 1937. If you want you can send me the serial number to hemphill@gvtel.com...............tom
