1858 Rem New Mod Army Revolver
1858 Rem New Mod Army Revolver
I have a Rem 1858 New Model Army Revolver SN# 100961 I am interested in determining any manufacturing dates more specific than 1863-1875? Any other information I can gather if anyone knows?

Hi 264,
How about September of 1864?

Sept 1864 would probably be really good. I appreciate you looking that up for me Dan!
Re: 1858 Rem New Mod Army Revolver
I have come across several Remington 1858's from the passing of my older brother. Two of them are stand out as other than modern reproduction types. Both appear to be original with correct markings and consistent serial numbers matching. Both have serial numbers in correct positions, one is totally disassembled and in need of repair, serial number is in the 35XXX range or about 1863-1864 time frame. I do have the ability to reconstruct this weapon and will after locating and buying replacement screws as they were all buggered up. The other is a very low serial number 2XX. A three digit, which I believe is made in 1861 and would be considered a Beall type? I have no idea what the 3 digit would be worth to the collectors out there. Condition is about 50-60%. It is still a shooter and I have test fired it. Both are chambered in .44. What are your thoughts about these vintage cap and balls, and what would you estimate the 3 digit's value at 50-60% condition? Thanks...

Hi Camay,
Pic will be helpful for ID. Gun 2xx is April, 1862, and should be a Beals model. 35,xxx is Sept, 1863, and should be a New Model Army. The barrel will have 3 lines and the bottom line is: "New Model"
Value depends on condition, Keep in mind that one person's 40% is another's 50%, and a third's 60%. You probably won't get any values here, especially without an in hand inspection.
Dixie Gun Works may have the screws you need.
