Good article on a transition KED-Grade in the Summer 2019 issue of The Double Gun & Single Shot Journal, Volume Thirty, Issue 2. The gun discussed is serial number Q354886, which has the early style stock and frame, but with the early sear pin hole plugged and a new sear pin hole in the late style position, the hollow rib, and the one-screw trigger guard. Looking through some guns for sale on GI, I've spotted some other steps in the evolution.
345081 is pure early style --
348604 is all early style, except it ha gotten the one-screw trigger guard --
Q355073 is similar to the gun in the article, with the plugged sear pin hole --

Yes, that is a good article in the DGJ. I've really enjoyed Terry Deem's articles about Remington Doubles in the recent issues. Nice to see some attention focused on those fine old guns.
