I recently acquired an 1871 Rolling Block
I have an 1871 Rolling Block-last patent date-letter “B” on barrel rings no Springfield stamp-Butt plate stamped with 95 TCC. 36” barrel and 48” overall length. Hammer length is just under 2”. Need some help identifying it.

There are so many variations of this gun. To help, we need photos & S/N plus any other additional info you can provide (caliber, type of casing etc.).

Or sure about posting pictures, of I am doing it right. Will continue to try.

Hello Longgun,
If your rifle has the last patent date of 1871 stamped on the upper tang of the rifle, it could be the New York State Model rolling block rifle. They had 36" bright barrels chambered in 50-70 cartridge. Also a lot of them had a "B" stamped on the side of the barrel bands. There would be no U.S. stamped on the Butt-Plate. If you pull the hammer back to full cock, then open and close the breech block the hammer should fall to a safety position. You would then have to pull the hammer back to full cock to fire the rifle. If this is the case then the rifle is the New York State Model. See the photo below.
Have a Good Day,
Matt
