Need help identifying a 12 GA barrel/Model 11?

Post by sunshine »

I recently acquired an old 12 GA barrel. It says Remington Arms Co Inc, Ilion, N.Y. Made in U.S.A., Browning's U.S. Pats. 689,283-710,194-730,870-812,326. 12 GA for 2 3/4 or shorter shells, Full XPPS, R.E.P. (within an oval shape), and E08228. Someone said they thought it was for an old Humpback Model 11. If anyone knows what it's for, the age, and maybe the value, I would appreciate it. Thanks

I am not completely sure but I think your barrel is for a pre Model 11. In 1905 Remington introduced their Auto Shotgun of Browning design. Your serial number fall in 1905 production. A few years later they modified the 1905 design and called it the Model 11. Hard to put a value onh it without seeing it.
