I have a rifle that looks like a model 1855 Harpers Ferry in 58 cal. However it has a cap and ball ignition system and not the Manyard. On the side plate it is stamped Remington Illion NY and a date of 1863. It also has a saber type bayonet. Can you tell me if it was manufactured by Remington or refitted in 1863 with the cap and ball.
