The two-line DD of Mr David FAGAN for my collection

Post by wildwest »

Hello RSA members,

My Double Derringer collection has now a sixth, the last but not the least; it's one of your RSA administrator, Mr David FAGAN himself; great thanks to him, especially because he has health problems.
He sold me his nickel "Mint Two-line" and never seen this model in perfect condition like this. S/N is "4" so maybe 1868, not sure
there was two series at that time for "type I, second model" between 1868 and 1888.

The picture shows this one (above), my L75001 of January 1932, and my mono-block L75794 of (maybe june) 1934

Six O/U between 1868 and 1934... What else ??? Maybe an engraved with pearl grips. I saw a pretty good one in the last months of 2014, on a british site (peteholder.co.uk)
But unfortunately, he went to IRELAND... Very bad news for me, the owner didn't want to resell it; it's an irish one now ! so I keep dreaming for the blued L98231

Thanks so much David. The export toward FRANCE wasn't so easy.

three more pictures of this two-line

Three more pictures of this two-line; bores are almost perfect, as mechanic and
grips. Very fine for a 147 or 137 year old gun... (1868 or maybe 1878)

All the models are classified as antique guns in my country ("D2e" catégory)
There are four catégories for guns in FRANCE since Sept 2013 (A-B-C-D) and
catégory 1 to 8 before this date (antique guns where in the 8 catégory)

Thank you Eskil, these three pictures were made by Mr FAGAN in february and
it's really amazing... About 18000 manufactured but not many informations.
Apparently three variations.
In any case, it's very kind of him. I hope he will not regret.
