SPR18 7.62X39 Bore Diameter

Post by wadwizard »

Can anyone tell me the bore diameter of the Russian-made SPR in 7.62X39? For reloading, what bullet diameter is recommended? Is there loading data for this cartridge specifically for this rife? Thanx.

Projectiles for the 7.62 x 39 are as follows: .310, .311, and .312 in diameter. Most die sets also contain a .308 expander ball as well because of the Ruger Mini-30 Rifle. The best idea is to slug your bore to find out where to start when selecting projectiles for reloading if you are in doubt as to the cut of your actual bore. All of the major powder manufacturers have reloading information that can be downloaded. The problem is that most of them only list a min/max load instead of giving you a start and a not to exceed load data. You might be able to locate a reloading data book at your public library or have it ordered from the network. Places that sell reloading components will often carry these books as well. There are on line forums that have reloading information but it is very important to check all loads against what can be found in books.

I know you can load 308 bullets in a 7.62x39 case and make a nice subsonic round.

They will not cycle a AK-47 or VZ-58. I dont reload I have them done for me. I can get you the info. I have been playing with this round to shoot in thru my suppressor.

Trying to find a 7.62x39 bolt gun as we speak. Do you like the spr18? My consider a single shot in this caliber also.

I think that CZ USA has a bolt action rifle chambered in 7.62 x 39 that should serve you well.

I love mine....I got the blued version because I like the looks better. They are a tremendous value. The barrel is 23 1/2 inches but is still quite handy due to being a break action; plus, it says "Remington" on the side.
