Remington Rolling Block Rifles, Carbines & Shotguns Sporting & Targer Rifles by Roy Marcot. Edited by Tome Rowe and Cary Marcot; photography by Roy Marcot, Ron Paxton & Tom Rowe; technical adviser, Jay Lewis.
Roy's gone and done it this time! This new release is not only an encyclopedic treasure trove of information on the Remington Nos. 1, 1-1/2, 4, 5 and 7 rolling blocks, but an artfully crafted printed piece with well, one might say "breathtakingly beautiful" color photographs of these great old arms showing them in full glory.
Accoring to the publication press release, this hefty 330-page volume comprises "individual chapters describing in detail each of the rolling block models. The No. 1 explanded section includes full chapters on the develpment of the rolling block system, early sporting rifles, engraved and embellished rifles, Creedmore long range rifles, mid-range and short range rifles, schuetzen rifles, bench rest rifles, and buffalo rifles.
Every mode is described in great detail, with over 250 comprehensive color photographs of all important aspects of each rifle. Besides the quality of the text and photography, what sets this book apart is the 12 x 10 inch layout of text and photographs in a series of flowing martixes designed by well-known graphic artist, Ron Paxton. Norm Flayderman, the noted antique arms authority in writing the foreward to this book, said,'the quality of the photography in this ... book sets a new standard that all future arms books will be held to.'
Research on this epic study of one of America's most famuous hunting and sporting rifles began 23 years ago. countless trips were made by the author to museums and private gun collections throughout the United States and Great Britain. My. Marcot also spent hundreds of hours over the past 18 years combing through the Remington company archives drawing material from original surviving production, sales and shipping records.
Each book is personally autographed by the author, Roy Marcot; by the technical adviser, Jay Lewis; and by the graphic artist, ron Paxton.
This book is all that the publisher claims it to be; it is superlative in every aspect. This volume is a sure fire winner and detined to be a clasic in the stufy and pictorial presentation of these old Remington RBs. Get your copy while you can!
