The Remington Society of America
An organization dedicated to the collection and study of Remington firearms, ammunition and history
Wednesday, 17 September 2014
Accommodations will be at the Herkimer Motel, phone (877) 656-6835. Identify yourself as being with the RSA group as we have a block of rooms reserved and the motel will be full otherwise. Make your motel reservation early before RSA's discounted block fills up. Rooms can be had at the RSA rate for any number of days before and after the seminar if they are available when you make your reservation. If you are not planning to bring a spouse/guest, think about rooming with another RSA participant in a double room. The motel provides free continental breakfast to its guests. There is a Denny's next door for those wanting a more substantial meal, and Chets is nearby. Overflow participants will need to seek a motel elsewhere in Herkimer, or in Utica, 13 miles away.
The motel is easily reached just off I-90. Participants will be provided specific directions. The Remington plant is just a short distance from the motel. There are no commercial flights to Ilion, but Syracuse is 69 miles to the west and Albany is 82 miles to the east. Southwest Airlines serves Albany.
Your seminar fee covers a number of things, including seminar materials, the opening dinner Wednesday evening, the closing banquet Friday evening, as well as a seminar remembrance. Breakfasts and Thursday dinner will be on your own. Participants will be able to purchase low cost lunches in the plant's employee cafeteria.
Seminar days will be full of activities including historical presentations, a tour of the manufacturing plant, an opportunity to visit the Remington museum at the plant, and fun auctions, give-aways and raffles. Folks will have the chance to visit the Remington Country Store where Remington licensed clothing and other logo products are sold.
There will be organized activities for spouses and guests. For those who are able to stay over a bit, on Saturday morning, August 1st, we will have a caravan tour stopping at the stable which is the only remaining part of Philo Remington's mansion, the Armory Hill Cemetery with the Remington family plot, the site of the Old Forge in the Gorge, and the original Remington family homestead (unfortunately, no admittance is permitted to the stable or homestead which are privately owned).
A limited amount of table space for individual show & tell and/or sale of Remington items will be available on a first come - first served basis to participants in the order in which they register and pay their seminar fees.
If you plan to participate in this year's RSA Seminar and would like to make a presentation, please contact Rich Shepler. Also, start thinking now about what items you can bring to donate to the fund raising activities. The participants make them a success.
Register as soon as possible to get a room at the Herkimer Motel, and register with Rich Shepler so we can plan for the dinner counts.
Don't delay. Send your name and contact information for further seminar announcements, whether bringing a spouse/guest, and mail your check for registration fees made out to the RSA to:
